💰Compensation Range: Compensation range: $27.00 - $34.00 per hour. This position is considered non-exempt under FLSA. This is an estimated pay range. Final pay rate will be determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, job related skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions.
We are looking for mid-level Transportation Construction Inspector to join our growing team based out of Colorado Springs. You will work directly with our construction managers and project engineers to observe and inspect transportation construction projects.
About the position…as a Construction Inspector, you should be able to perform the following basics:
Developing and maintaining effective and efficient documentation throughout the project in a timely manner including but not limited to writing daily reports (including photos) and summarizing construction activity and other important information for the day
Inspecting, monitoring, and evaluating construction work to ensure compliance with all codes, ordinances, regulations, standards, and contract/project specifications by reviewing, interpreting, and evaluating plans, blueprints, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements, project requirements, and safety regulations, and comparing them with construction in progress
Evaluating construction materials (such as concrete, aggregates, pavements, and soils) and measuring dimensions and elevations against blueprints and schematics, etc.
Observing and evaluating construction activities for general conformance to contract documents
Using standard inspection tools including measuring tape, smart level, measuring wheel, soils probe, mobile devices, metering devices, and other test equipment to perform inspections
Presenting feedback on findings and working collaboratively with others to resolve issues
Wearing proper personal protection equipment (PPE)
Reporting any unsafe conditions to your supervisor or member of management
Continuously identifying, anticipating, and preventing safety, health, and hazard concerns by surveying environmental, operational, and occupational conditions while on construction site
Requirements If you are the ideal candidate, you will have the following experience:
A minimum of 2 years transportation construction inspection experience
Relevant inspection certificates (e.g., erosion control, OSHA 10-hr Construction Safety, OSHA confined space entry, CDOT Basics, Transportation Erosion Control Supervisor, Work Zone Traffic Control).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, cloud-based file servers, and GIS asset management software
Excellent written and oral communication skills including technical writing
Mature interpersonal skills and problem solving ability
Excellent organizational skills
Self-motivated to meet individual goals and maintain accountability in a team environment
Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record
Able to complete tasks while working remotely from equipped vehicle or project field office
